Welcome to Word. By using our app, you agree to these terms. Read them carefully. They're straightforward, just like our app.

1. What Word Is

Word is an accountability app. You set goals, stake real money, and designate a referee to verify your success. If you fail to keep your word, your stake is donated to charity. No refunds. No excuses.

2. Eligibility

To use Word, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be legally able to enter into binding agreements
• Have a valid payment method
• Reside in a jurisdiction where our services are permitted

3. How Commitments Work

Creating a Commitment: You define a goal, set a deadline, choose a stake amount, select a charity, and designate a referee.

Platform Fee: A $5.00 platform fee is charged when you lock in your commitment. This fee is non-refundable.

Stakes: Your stake is held until your referee verifies the outcome. Stakes are only charged if you fail.

Referee Decision: Your referee's decision is final. By using Word, you accept their judgment.

4. Payments and Refunds

Platform Fees: Non-refundable once your commitment is locked.

Stakes: If you pass, your stake is never charged. If you fail, your stake is donated to your chosen charity. No refunds on failed commitments.

Cancellation: You may cancel a commitment before your referee accepts. After acceptance, no cancellation is permitted.

5. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Set genuine, achievable goals
• Choose a trustworthy referee
• Accept your referee's verdict without dispute
• Provide accurate payment information
• Not use the app for illegal purposes

6. Referee Responsibilities

Referees are individuals you trust to verify your commitment. Word is not responsible for referee decisions. Choose wisely.

7. Charitable Donations

When you fail a commitment, your stake is donated to your selected charity. Word facilitates this donation but is not the charity itself. Tax implications are your responsibility.

8. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these terms
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Abuse the platform or other users
• Attempt to manipulate the system

9. Limitation of Liability

Word provides a platform for accountability. We are not responsible for:

• Your success or failure in meeting goals
• Referee decisions or disputes
• Emotional distress from lost stakes
• Technical issues beyond our control

Our maximum liability is limited to the fees you've paid us in the past 12 months.

10. Disputes

Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You waive your right to participate in class actions.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. Continued use of Word after changes constitutes acceptance. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
